Archive and Research Centre for Women's History

Mission

The Carhif-AVG, founded in 1995, specialises in the history of women, gender and sexualities.

We preserve the heritage of persons and organizations working on these issues. Our collections and projects tell their history and show how thinking about gender evolves over time.

We are a bilingual and pluralist association that receives funding from the Institute for the Equality of Women and Men.

Our focus

  • To preserve the heritage of the women’s and feminist movement and of persons and organisations working on gender issues, and to make these resources available for study and research.
  • To conduct and stimulate scientific research on the history of women, gender and sexualities and to support researchers in this field.
  • To introduce this heritage and research to a broad public by way of publications, exhibitions and other projects.
