Extended deadline (31/5) – CfP Silence is (not) an option: Re-Thinking Oral History post-MeToo

Silence occurs in every oral history interview and comes in many forms. This symposium will readdress these complexities. Papers may focus upon the strategies of historical actors, as well as on the potentially unexpected consequences of breaking silences. We also welcome proposals that reflect on interpreting silence or on the differences between what is said on and off the record. We especially encourage proposals that include subaltern voices and address the history of intimacy, consent and activism.

Conference “Re-thinking Historical Practice Post-MeToo” : 6/5/2022

The conference Consent, Ethics and Activism: Re-thinking Historical Practice Post-MeToo will take place in May 2022 in stead of December 2021 (exact date follows). It launches the 2021-2023 programme of the Forum for Belgian Research in the History of Women, Gender and Sexualities. The conference will reflect on consent and ethics in and as a historical practice, paying special attention to the ways in which historians approach their historical subjects and source material.
